With so many demands on today’s families and the increased focus on early brain development, families need all the support they can get to nurture the potential of youth.
That’s why child care and early learning programs at the Y focus on holistically nurturing child development by providing a safe and healthy place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
The Hardin County Family YMCA offers child watch services to member and non-member families (a small fee is charged per child for non-member families). Children, ages 6 months through 10 years, are welcome at the YMCA for fun, supervised play in a safe, clean, and wholesome area.
Parents may drop off children during available hours for a maximum of two hours while remaining at the YMCA for fitness classes, exercise and other activities. Limited services for young children are provided.
The Hardin County Family YMCA has partnered with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to provide educational and reading resources to member children. The Imagination Library is a joint initiative provided by the United Way of Hardin Co. & Hardin Co. Family YMCA.
In 1995, Dolly Parton launched an exciting new effort, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, to benefit the children of her home county in East Tennessee, USA. Dolly's vision was to foster a love of reading among her county’s preschool children and their families by providing them with the gift of a specially selected book each month. By mailing high quality, age-appropriate books directly to their homes, she wanted children to be excited about books and to feel the magic that books can create. Moreover, she could insure that every child would have books, regardless of their family’s income.
